Have you heard of a Flexi?
A Flexi is jewelry for YOUR hair – whatever type of hair YOU happen to have!
When I found out about this opportunity to do this review and I checked out the site on Lilla Rose, I was so excited. Having an 8th month old means my hair is up 99% of the time – and I need to get it up quickly and without much fuss. I was really bored with the look and styles that I could do with just a claw – so I couldn’t wait to try a Flexi! If this worked, I’d finally have something nice to put in my hair!
I have extremely thick, long curly/wavy hair. Nothing holds it well – even a claw – and forget those cute little barrettes and other clips that are out there. And a ponytail holder usually pulls my hair out at the end of the day. So up til now my hair accessories have consisted of a claw, huge scrunchies (can we say so out of style!), and a few headbands. Yuck!
In fact a couple of months ago, Chris asked me why I never take anytime to put anything nice in my hair like I do Naomi’s. I told him that nothing cute holds my hair!
But I was WRONG!
The Flexi fits and holds so well! And they come in such cute designs! Check them out here!
And guess what?! They’ll fit your hair too! The trick is to find your size.
Here’s a sizing video to help you figure out your size.
For my hair I need a large for most updos – and with a Flexi I can finally do a French Twist (Yay!). But for a ponytail or tails up (just the ends) a large is a bit loose, but a medium fits and holds perfectly!
In fact, For the last 3 weeks I’ve worn nothing but a Flexi.
With a claw, I had to redo my hair several time throughout the day. It never held securely for more than 2-3 hours. And as I’ve observed while being out the last few weeks, this is pretty common – especially for those of us with very heavy hair!
But the Flexi held up great! In fact there was one day that I put it in at 10 am, was outside all day at my local fair, and when I got home at 8 pm my Flexi and my hair were still in great shape and I didn’t have to fix it once! I even wore one swimming this past weekend and it held tight and secure without a problem.
I love how solid and secure the Flexi feels. They are made of quality metal and beautiful accessories. They are tough, yet comfortable and they don’t feel heavy in your hair.
They also look amazing! When I showed them to several of my friends they really liked them! The designs are colorful and bold, and look just like a nice piece of jewelry. They also come in so many different great designs! And the Flexi-of-the-Month for August was just plain gorgeous – I’m kind of sad I didn’t choose it to review! Check out the September FotM on the bottom!
I also tested the Flexi out on several other people – all with great results! My younger sister was my first guinea pig. She happened to be visiting when my first Flexi arrived in the mail. (She’s the blonde in the photo collage.) Her hair is finer and straighter than mine. She tried out several styles with the large Flexi and found it was easy to put in. The large was a bit big for her hair but it still held really well. We both had a lot of fun trying different styles together!
Lilla Rose also has great customer service!
I mentioned to my consultant, Michele, that I really loved my Flexi but that it was a bit too big to do all the styles I’d like to try – so she sent me a medium one! (The multicolored one.) She told me that Lilla Rose makes things right. If you order a size and find that it doesn’t work for you they will exchange it within 90 days and even pay the shipping!
What I didn’t like?
I’m hard pressed to find something I haven’t liked about the Flexi! And Lilla Rose offers several other products including Hair Sticks, the Flexi Oh! (pony-tail holder), Bobby Pins, Headbands, You-Pins, and decorative badge holders. In fact, my only complaint is that their website is a bit challenging to navigate – especially on my phone when I’ve tried to show the other Flexi designs off to my friends. I wanted them to see all the beautiful designs right then and there and it never quite worked for me.
So the next question for me is always price.
I’m notorious for being frugal to the max! I won’t spend more than $10 on a purse, and I hate to spend even that much. And don’t even get me started on clothes. With this in mind I was a bit hesitant to look at the prices of these cute and stylish hair pieces –
But I was pleasantly surprised!
The Flexi ranges between $11 for a mini to $30 for a gold or dangly MEGA (very few people/styles need this one), but the most common sizes range closer to $13-$16. Price of course varies a bit on size, material and the intricate bead work detail. For a solid hairpiece that also serves as a beautiful piece of jewelry I think this is a great price! Especially after trying it out for myself. I love the Flexi so much –
I (almost) threw my claw away!
I decided at the last minute that I better keep it. You know, for when I’ve got to paint or do something super gross. I don’t want to ruin my Flexis! So now that I’ve told you how much I love them
Here’s your chance to win a Flexi!
